Centralized data is key to business success

Client Snapshot

A Seattle-based health and nutrition company had outgrown its data and inventory management systems, hampering further expansion. Blueprint created a modern data storage environment and custom inventory management system utilizing the M365 platform, allowing the company to streamline business processes, launch new products and manage associated marketing campaigns.

Work Summary

The problem

The health and nutrition company grew very quickly its first few years, but that success overloaded the company’s inventory management and data management systems to the point of failure. Continuing that growth trajectory was a key goal of the company, so they engaged Blueprint to help solve this set of problems.

Existing inventory managements systems were dependent on manual processes, spreadsheets and back-and-forth emails to track stock levels. The fragility of the systems became apparent as orders increased. Product would sell out and the company would remain unaware of the situation for days, resulting in lost revenue and a tarnished brand. The platforms necessary to improve and increase collaboration needed to be built to allow the company to continue to flourish.

The Blueprint Way

Blueprint stepped in quickly to gather the necessary stakeholders to truly understand the scope of the problem and build the development and deployment strategy. Once that phase was complete the work began on the creation of a centralized data platform all inventory data, including individual SKUs, vendor information and all associated product information. Microsoft Power Apps was used to create several Canvas applications, including a marketing campaign management tool and a Launch Calendar that automatically sends email and other alerts to stakeholders for various inventory and product-related issues. The back end was built in SharePoint, allowing for trackability, security and real-time access.
